I had the enigmatic pleasure of meeting Maude Pike, although our encounter was far from a conventional interview. The experience was shrouded in mystery, and to this day, I'm unsure what transpired that peculiar afternoon. I'll attempt to recount what I believe she intended for us to take away from our visit.
She gave me a once-over, then stated matter-of-factly, "I only have fruit." She turned to leave, but not before a yellow dog ran up to me, tail wagging, as she walked away. The music abruptly stopped. "Maude only listens to metal in the morning," she called out calmly. The dog seemed to respond to her cue, wagging its tail. She returned, flopped onto the couch, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. "I'm trying to turn this place into a bowling alley, but first I need to eat all these plums." Before I could respond, the door creaked open wider.
